Day 3

Eventually the group finds themselves in a new part of the city. The stone is cleaner, the air is brighter, and everything seems far better cared for. Whether this is illusion or truth, it’s hard to mistake the trickling sound of a fountain ahead, drawing you into view of a massive open courtyard. Rising out of the middle of it is a tall building with a strangely crooked spire, topped with a globe like a watchful eye.

Closer, it’s easy to read the carved sign above the doorway.

Mirrored, as in backwards....

[Fred cuts up short, watching the quill struggle]

[And if that was a current entry, how far back did it go? Past what any of them remembered? All the way back to the very beginning of the castle?]

[ The quill wriggles away and she curses under her breath. ]

I don't know what that means for us, though. [ A mirror world? But nothing has really hinted at that so far. ]

[She just catches that word]

Don't hold back on my account. [Fred looks around them] ...are we in a reflection of some kind?

[If Kate tries to look, the entries in this particular book only go back as far as this particular person had been in the castle. Also, she may notice that the conversations take up exactly as much room on the page as they would in a normal book, instead of seeming to all fit within the same page like they do in the castle volumes]

It's like the journals we use back in the castle. The conversations don't fit into one page, though.

[ She starts to head down, hopping off before the last few steps when she's close to the floor. ]

Wouldn't our surrounding look that way, then? Mirrored. Some of this is familiar... but some other parts aren't.

[The amount of grace evident as the other woman moves isn't lost on Fred]

I don't know. The only thing I do know is I'm tired of having more questions than answers.

You and I both. [ She peers up at the quill, watching it get back to work. ] There's got to be something that will clue us in on an exit. If the other residents aren't already looking for that, but sounds like they just started checking to see who's missing.
