Day 3

Eventually the group finds themselves in a new part of the city. The stone is cleaner, the air is brighter, and everything seems far better cared for. Whether this is illusion or truth, it’s hard to mistake the trickling sound of a fountain ahead, drawing you into view of a massive open courtyard. Rising out of the middle of it is a tall building with a strangely crooked spire, topped with a globe like a watchful eye.

Closer, it’s easy to read the carved sign above the doorway.

[Caterina is watching the books fly about for some time trying to discern a pattern for it. Eventually she will opt to grab some off the shelves and leaf through them while occasionally looking up to see if it is still happening.]

[dontpatr0nizeme]

[Washington is actually going to join her at examining the shelf books, as he'd really rather not wrestle with flying books. But he can't resist a comment.] Never a dull moment.

[ironlady]

[Caterina flashes a smile.] Certainly not. I have to wonder what the purpose of that is.

You really think there's a purpose?

[ironlady]

I don't see why not. It must take some effort to do such a thing repeatedly.

[dontpatr0nizeme]

You make a good point.

[ironlady]

Only on occasion. May I ask your name? [I honestly cannot remember if we've ever threaded with them or not. :|]

[dontpatr0nizeme]

[I'm pretty sure we have, but it's been a long time and it wasn't much. So it's not a big deal.]

Agent Washington.

[ironlady]

[We'll be sure to make a habit of getting these two together then!]

You're with York and Delta then? [Her expression warms at those names.]

[dontpatr0nizeme]

[Nods.] As well as any other member of Project Freelancer that's been at the castle.

[ironlady]

It's a pleasure to be spending some time with his coworkers despite the circumstances.

[dontpatr0nizeme]

[Nods] Feels like we're waiting for the ax to fall.

[ironlady]

[Her expression grows serious.] We are. I can't imagine we'll get off with a quick exploration before the castle sends us back to rest safely in our beds.

[dontpatr0nizeme]

It never does. There has to be some kind of hardship. I mean, I was kidnapped before and dumped on an island in the Dead Zone.

[ironlady]

An island? I don't remember that.

[dontpatr0nizeme]

It happened a long time ago. I've been here over 2 years.

[squartatore]

Want to move elsewhere? [she gestures at the books moving on and off the shelves not too far off -- what if one of them hit somebody in the face?]

[ironlady]

I wouldn't mind. [She smiles at the girl. Lead the way.]

[squartatore]

[a nod, and she heads toward the entryway they came from; no books are even close to that area, perhaps because it would defeat the purpose of having a library if the books aren't staying around]

Less likely to get clocked by a dictionary over there.

[ironlady]

[Caterina follows after.] I believe you're right. [A beat.] My name is Caterina. May I ask who you are?

[squartatore]

Sayaka. [making conversation would be easier if she wasn't preoccupied with watching out for flying books]
